Backup Power

Backup Power

Battery, Generator, or Both?

Generators

By far a standby generator is the way to go for most Florida home owners. This option can provide backup power for your whole house as long as you have LP or Natural Gas fuel available.  This is a great solution for the hurricane outages we occasionally experience.  The solar array will be working when the generator operates.  This allows for a smaller sized generator.  An automatic transfer switch is a common accessory.   Have this installed as part of your new solar system and receive a 30% Federal Tax Credit!

Cost: $8K-$12K

Batteries

The problem with batteries is that they are expensive and they only last a matter of hours.  The customers who order battery back up are usually looking for uninterrupted power.  It does takes a whole house generator with an automatic transfer switch 10 – 20 seconds to power your home.  The battery back up will allow the solar array to continue generating power when the sun is up.  Have this installed as part of your new solar system and receive a 30% Federal Tax Credit!

Cost: $10K-$12K

Both

Looking for the best of both worlds, this is the option for you. A complete energy solution.  The battery back up will allow for a smaller generator and you will have uninterrupted power.   Have this installed as part of your new solar system and receive a 30% Federal Tax Credit!

Cost: $16K-$25K
